I live in the Boston area, i have an 05 GTO A4 with 42k, K & N intake, Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers, and Predator tuner by Diablo Sport, Royal Purple oil w/ Mobil 1 filter. My car runs very well, gets decent mileage when i'm not on it. My problem is traction on dry ground, 1st gear spins bad, 2nd gear gets good rubber. When i gun it, once the revs hit between 4700 and redline in 1st thats where 2nd gear gets rubber. I've tried lowering rear tire pressure and raising the front, better but still strong rubber in 2nd. I'm not cmplanning my cars goes, but when about to race someone at the track i want traction and i want to go. I'm on a limited budget guys, still making payments on her. Any advise guys. I always disable the traction control as well, should i leave it on? My tire are Kumho's 245/45/R17

Regards, Chris

welcome to the boards chris! Sounds like you may need some better tires if you are breaking them loose like that...I would say drag bags but that would only be if you had bad wheel hop...post pics of your ride!

Yup, you need tires with more stick! Try a larger size and/or different compound (softer), it will bite better but a softer compound tire does wear out faster also.
